Project 52, Week 4: OUTSIDE!!!

Week 4 brought us two whole days of gorgeous weather! 70 degrees in January in Kansas is a gift, especially for those of us with kids. We have been trapped inside due to cold and snow, and now we get to go outside! Just try to forget that we are supposed to get six inches of snow on Tuesday. Remember the 70 degrees!!

I hear Carter say "Outside? Outside?" several times a day, and we finally got to go to the park to enjoy the weather. He was so excited! He loves the slides, going up the stairs and down the slide over and over and over again. The first picture is my picture of the week, but I couldn't choose just one to show off.

You can see in the picture below the look on his face that say "I am so excited to be outside and go down this slide!"  Each time he would go down the slide, he would sit several feet from where the slide began. Then he would scoot to the edge and have a huge smile on his face. It was pretty adorable to watch him concentrate on getting to the right spot.

He also loved the swing. I think he was on it for 15 or 20 minutes, which may have set a record on length of time contained in one place! In the photo of him swinging, he's looking off to the side at two little girls playing on the playground; he was mesmerized by them! We had so much fun enjoying the weather and playing outside; now its time to bundle up again...

The Many Faces of Carter

While none of the below pictures are going to win any prizes, I just loved the faces he was making today! I don't think I've seen such a range in a span of 20 minutes from my little guy before!!  We have:
1. The tongue out, dog panting look.
2. The disgusting taste of plastic look.
3. The puffing one cheek out look.
4. The "Are you done taking my picture so I can finish my show?" look.
5. The Carl the Greenskeeper look.
6. The fish look.
7. The rolled out bottom lip look.
8. The eyes half closed look.
9. The precious little boy look.

He was not being very cooperative today but at least I got some funny expressions!!

Project 52, Weeks 2 and 3

Week 2 brought us snow!! I am not a cold weather person, so I liked it for about a day. It stuck around longer than I care for, but this did mean an opportunity to take some pictures. I needed Trev there to help. Since the snow was to Carter's knees in the backyard, he couldn't walk in it very well. Trev was there to help and play while I took the pictures. Carter seemed to like the snow. Actually, he just liked walking in it. He didn't really care to really play in it. I guess that's what you get with a 19 month old though! The first picture is my favorite of the week but I'm including a few more to document the day

In week 3 I got a new lens for my camera! I bought a Canon 50mm 1.8 and I LOVE IT. I was worried at first since I am used to a lens with a zoom but I think this will end up being my primary lens. The pictures are sharper and I rarely have to use my flash. I only have the on-camera flash which I don't like. So this gives me more opportunities to shoot without it. Carter was playing so well in his room one morning so we had a little photoshoot! Here's my favorite.

I do love a good smile picture, but as I mentioned earlier he is stingy with smiles when the camera comes out. But his eyes in this photo are amazing! And he has that look on his face, like "Mom, please stop taking my picture already so I can play with my toys again!" Here's a few more from the morning.

Project 52, Week 1

I am a little behind in posting seeing as this blog didn't exist the first week of January when I took this picture!  So there will be a little bit of catching up to do, but I'll get there.  I chose this picture because it is so hard to get a picture of Carter smiling! He deliberately looks down or away from the camera whenever I bring it out. He must have been feeling sorry for me on this day! As a side note, Trevor and I just finished reupholstering the chair he is sitting on. But that is for another post...

Here We Go!

I am really doing this! I really enjoy reading other blogs, so I have decided to start one of my own.  Carter is the catalyst behind this attempt.  Without him, I don't think I would have anything to blog about.  Here you will find anecdotes and of course pictures.  So, here we go!!
