Introducing Samuel Robert

Wow, I am a little behind here. I figured since Sam is 3 weeks old, it is time for him to make an appearance here!!

Here is Samuel Robert!! He was born at 11:07 am on February 27, weighed 8 lb 5 oz and was 20 in long. Most people were guessing girl, but we are the blessed parents of two boys!! He has been a great baby so far, much more laid back than Carter was. Although Sam is not quite as good of a sleeper as Carter was :).

We headed home the next day and quickly got settled at home as a family of four. We absolutely could NOT have done this without all of the help our families gave us. They were wonderful about bringing meals, playing with Carter and giving us a little time to try to catch a little sleep. I'm not sure we would have survived that first week without them!!

Carter is wonderful with Sam. He loves to give him hugs and kisses. He also loves to bring me the pacifier, with his germy toddler hands...one helpful item that I could do without. I think he is missing the attention of being an only child, but hopefully will adjust soon.

I hope to stay on top on this blogging business, but no guarantees!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Whew! I've had a nice little break from blogging, haven't I? With a baby due in less than 2 weeks I will have lots to blog about, but even less time to do it!! I didn't take to many pictures in January, nothing great to share. We were too busy working on the house and getting ready for Baby #2 to arrive.

Since Monday brought our first real snow, I thought it was a great time for me and Carter to make some sugar cookies. I'm not much of a baker and have never made sugar cookies, but figured I better learn with little ones around. Here is the link to the recipe I used, and the cookies were delicious!!!!

Carter was a great helper, much better than I thought. He is slightly totally terrified of loud noises, including my hand mixer. But since he also got to help control it, we avoided any freak outs.

He helped me measure and pour...

He helped me mix....

And he examined the dough that got on his hands, needing to be wiped off immediately :)

Here are the many faces of Carter, as we made our dough.

Once we had the dough made and in the fridge to chill, Carter went down for a nap. I started cutting out and baking before he woke up. I knew he wouldn't have the patience for all of the cookies to be made, and I even halved the recipe. I left one last batch for him to help cut out.

Trev came home to a mess of a kitchen, but we had lots of fun. And Trev (and Carter as he tells me) got me flowers!!

I have to say it was a great Valentine's Day (actually Valentine's Day eve). Now I'm just ready to meet this little one and adjust to being a family of four!!

Project 52, Weeks 51 and 52: Thank Goodness!!

While I am glad I did this, I am even happier that it's over. I like to finish things I start; therefore I won't be doing another Project 52. Between being pregnant, Christmas and moving right after Christmas, photography has been on the back burner. I had visions of artistic pictures of Carter in front of the Christmas tree. That didn't happen.

Week 51 shows how and what Carter eats every morning. Orange Juice, Cheerios and Yogurt. Every morning.

Week 52 is the only picture of the entire project to not have Carter in it. And it is not creative. At all. But it definitely shows what the last week of our life in 2011 was like. This was taken late at night while painting the new kitchen. This is how Trev accomplished this.

Yes, he is painting while sitting on the refrigerator. The yellow behind him is the old color. It has been replaced with a much calmer color, cracked wheat. While we have lots more to do in the new house, it is starting to feel like us. Now it's a marathon to accomplish as much as possible before this baby makes an appearance!
